Pollokshields Primary School

Headteacher’s Welcome

A Message From Miss Smith

I am delighted to share our new website with you and warmly welcome you to Pollokshields Primary School.  This is a very important time for you and your child.  You are trusting us to help your child learn, grow and develop and we hope that we exceed your expectations.

Our building dates from 1878, and is a listed building.  We recently went through a refurbishment to modernise the interior.  We serve the Community of Pollokshields and our school sits at the heart of Albert Drive, Herriot Street and Keir Street.   We currently teach 300 primary aged children across 12 classes and a Nurture Class.

Our Vision, Values and Aims

We aim to review our Vision, Values and Aims during this academic session.  This will be done in consultation with our stakeholders.   Recent evaluation and consultation with children, parents and staff has re-iterated the view that community spirit, celebrating diversity, nurture and inclusion are strengths and priorities for our School Community.

Our current values are derived from Scotland’s values and they are:

  • Sharing & Caring

  • Smart & Sensible

  • Honest & Trustworthy

  • Fair & Equal

We hope you always feel part of our School and know that you are welcome to discuss your child’s progress at any time with their teacher or a member of our management team.

Yours sincerely,

Miss Michelle Smith (Headteacher)
